I'm sure you noticed that there was no post for top performers from last week and there were no predictions and picks for Week 4. I was covering the Democratic National Convention for the Observer and wasn't able to put those together. But the DNC is gone now, and the regular blogs are back!
Here are your top performers from Week 4:
Let me start by saying that Charlotte Catholic running back Elijah Hood could make this list every week. He's consistently running for 150-200 yards and several scores. So, I have to set the bar higher for him to make it. I'll only list him if he rushes for more than something absurd like, say, 300 yards in a game. Wait a minute ...
Elijah Hood, RB, Charlotte Catholic: 21 carries for 306 yards and three touchdowns against Gastonia Ashbrook Friday night. You do the math on how many yards per carry that is. (Hint: it's more than 14.)
Jack Tocho, DB, Independence: The N.C. State commit, who was featured in a South Charlotte News article recently, had two kick returns for touchdowns (86 and 82 yards) against West Charlotte Saturday.
Ross Jeffries, QB, Myers Park: Scored four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) Saturday night to help the Mustangs come from behind and beat North Meck.
Zach Brouse, LB, Charlotte Latin: Brouse's two first half interceptions kept Latin in the game early and helped the Hawks come back and beat Carolina Pride 35-20 Friday.
