Providence Day School is ranked No. 1 in a power poll of N.C. Independent School Association football teams compiled by Simmons Ratings.
Charlotte Country Day is second, Charlotte Christian third, Davidson Day fourth and Charlotte Latin fifth, through week 5 games. The poll updates every Thursday.
The rankings don't split the NCISAA by Division and rates the teams factors like strength of schedule, margin of victory and win-loss record, according to the website. More recent games have more emphasis in the rankings.
The rankings are compiled by Brian Simmons, a North Carolina native who graduated from N.C. State with a degree in meteorology. He also has polls for public schools. Butler leads the 4A rankings and Charlotte Catholic is No. 5 in the 3A rankings.
