Ardrey Kell (0-0) at Marvin Ridge (1-0) - I love that this game is becoming quite the rivalry at the beginning of each football season. Marvin Ridge had their way with East Mecklenburg last week, winning 38-7. Ardrey Kell had an extra week to prepare and is led by running back Quay Gilmore on offense and linebacker Kalen Elkins. My pick: Ardrey Kell

Charlotte Catholic (1-0) at Providence High (1-0) - Here's another fun nonconference rivalry early in the season. Both Catholic and Providence looked strong in their season openers, with the Cougars beating South Meck 41-0 and the Panthers beating Hopewell 31-19. Catholic back Elijah Hood was impressive last week and Providence must slow him down to have any chance of winning. My pick: Catholic

East Mecklenburg (0-1) at Berry (0-1) - Both of these teams really struggled in their season openers with Berry losing to Vance 55-13 and East Meck falling to Marvin Ridge. East Meck badly needs a confidence boost and led most of this game last year before a late comeback by Berry. My pick: Berry
