Golf: Dulles District to Tee it Up in Tournament Tuesday at Bull Run ... Weather Permitting

(Sept. 17, 2012) - 10 Dulles District golf teams are scheduled to tee it up in the district tournament Tuesday morning at Bull Run Golf Course in Haymarket. The forecast calls for adverse conditions with 60 percent chance of rain on the front nine with 10 to 12 mph winds and then as things wraps up the forecast calls for thunderstorms and strong winds, 20 mph and higher.

Dominion High School has already wrapped up a Region II tournament bid by winning the Dulles District regular-season title. The winner Tuesday -- or runner-up if Titans prevail -- will also advance to the regional tournament scheduled for Sept. 27 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Course.

The Bull Run Golf Course is a championship course opened in 1998, set in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain. The course is characterized by wide fairways but there are also water hazards to contend with. No. 13 is a par-4 with a big pond on the left hand side that will swallow up tee shots that miss the mark. No. 14 is a par-5 that requires a tricky approach shot to the green and the course finishes up with a water hazard guarding the front of the 18th green.

The first group of the day, teeing off at7:30 a.m., features defending AA state champion Sam Stillwell of Dominion, defending district champion Ian Hildebrand of Loudoun Valley, NCAA Division I East Carolina commit Ryan Douglass of Heritage and Jason Guintu of Potomac Falls.

An eye should also be kept on the 4th pairing that tees of at 7:54, featuring Erik Dulik of Dominion, Scott Mumpower of Loudoun Valley, Ryan O'Sullivan of Heritage and Thomas Truluck of Tuscarora.
