Each week, South Charlotte News prep sports writer Corey Inscoe breaks down the biggest south Charlotte football games and gives predictions for every area contest.

Last week: 4-3
Overall: 66-17

It's November and with that comes the state football playoffs. Public and private schools both start postseason play tonight. Here are some of the best Friday night match ups.

Providence Day at Charlotte Country Day -- I know I shouldn't do it. It's backfired all year. But something in me just thinks that Providence Day is better than they've shown in conference play. This is a team that brought back nearly all of the talent that won the state championship last year. So, even though Country Day beat the Chargers 17-7 in the regular season, I think Providence Day can win the rematch. My pick: Providence Day.

Myers Park at Vance -- This was a hard pick for me when I did it for the Observer's Pick 7. If Myers Park plays the way it did against Rocky River last week, the Mustangs have a chance. Vance has had a very good season so far, with its only losses coming to Butler, Hough and Mallard Creek. My pick: Vance.

Marvin Ridge at Charlotte Catholic -- The road through the 3AA bracket isn't the easiest, but I think Catholic should make it to the West Region championship. The Cougars have to make sure they don't look past Marvin Ridge. Elijah Hood will be the key to the Catholic offense, as always. He's looked very strong the last few weeks. My pick: Charlotte Catholic. (I'll be covering this game for the Observer. Follow me on Twitter @CoreyInscoe for scores and updates.)

West Forsyth at Butler - My pick: Butler.
Northwest Guilford at Independence - My pick: Independence.
Providence at East Forsyth - My pick: East Forsyth.
Rocky River at Greensboro Page - My pick: Rocky River.
Charlotte Latin at Charlotte Christian - My pick: Charlotte Christian.
