Alec Wintering (34 points) leads United Faith past Durham Mt Zion

Alec Wintering had a memorable high school basketball season debut at home against Durham Mount Zion.

Wintering, a 5-foot-9 senior guard committed to Portland, scored 34 points in an 82-72 win. Wintering had five rebounds, four assits and three steals in the win for United Faith, which has a huge game Saturday night at home against Kennedy Charter.



Kyle Williams-Venerable (17 points, five rebounds) and Nehemiah Mabson (15 points, five rebounds) had strong games for Faith (1-0).

Kennedy Charter kicked off its season Tuesday as well, beating North Hills Christian 85-49. Najee Prichett had 20 points and three rebounds for Kennedy Charter, which got 10 pounds, seven rebounds and seven steals from senior guard Julius Hamilton.
