Ardrey Kell ran out to a big early lead and held on for a 59-54 win at sold-out Harding Tuesday.
The Rams, preseason No. 5 in the Observer’s Sweet 16, lost their season opener.
Steven Santa Ana had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (2-0). He had the same totals in Monday’s season-opening 84-44 win over Marvin Ridge.
Against Harding, Tate Small had 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
“It was a total team effort and a great win in a hostile environment,” Ardrey Kell coach Mike Craft said. “I’m really proud of how we protected the lead and held them off in the end. Harding is a very good team but our players accepted the challenge tonight.”
