Each week, South Charlotte News prep sports writer Corey Inscoe breaks down the biggest south Charlotte football games and gives predictions for every area contest.
Last week: 6-1
Overall: 43-12
Myers Park at Providence High: Not to take anything away from Myers Park's win last week over Ardrey Kell - because it was big - but I think that was more a case of the Knights falling into a trap after Independence and before Butler. Providence High, when they put everything together, has looked strong this year, like in the second half of the game against Hough. My pick: Providence.
Davidson Day at Charlotte Country Day: This is a big game for Davidson Day to prove that they can play with south Charlotte's private school powers. SimmonsRatings.com has Country Day ranked No. 2 among independent schools in the state and Davidson Day is No. 4. Expect a ton of passing in this game. My pick: Country Day.
Butler at Ardrey Kell: It's been a tough couple of weeks for Ardrey Kell, losing to Independence and then losing in the final minutes to Myers Park. It won't get much easier this week when Butler comes down to Ballantyne. There is a chance that Ardrey Kell could beat a Butler without quarterback Riley Ferguson, but the Knights would have to play a near perfect game. My pick: Butler.
Carolina Pride at Charlotte Christian - My pick: Charlotte Christian.
Charlotte Catholic at Harding - My pick: Charlotte Catholic.
Independence at South Mecklenburg - My pick: Independence.
Providence Day at Charlotte Latin - My pick: Providence Day.
Rocky River at East Mecklenburg - My pick: Rocky River.
