(Oct. 1, 2012) - The Loudoun Hounds, a proposed minor league baseball team that had hoped to be playing ball by 2011, may have found a home after it was announced today that their future stadium would not be built in the Kincora Project as originally planned but will now be part of the nearby One Loudoun development in Ashburn. First pitch is now planned for 2014.

One Loudoun Holdings, LLC, a joint venture of Miller & Smith and North America Sekisui House, LLC put out a release that said One Loudoun would be the new home for the Loudoun Hounds. Development plans include the construction of a new ballpark with capacity for up to 10,000 fans including 5,500 fixed seats.

"We are thrilled to have reached an agreement with the Loudoun Hounds. One Loudoun is the ideal location for this sports and entertainment venue and we are proud to be working with Bob Farren to make his vision for a new ballpark in Loudoun County a reality," said Bill May, Vice President of Miller and Smith.

Bob Farren, President of VIP Sports & Entertainment, the Hounds' parent company, remarked, "This is an exciting time for HoundsNation and the entire community. It is something we have been working on for over a decade and the first pitch is clearly in sight. When complete, the new Ballpark will be the premier sports and entertainment destination in Loudoun County and across Northern Virginia."

The Ballpark will be designed as the centerpiece of One Loudoun and will host at least 72 baseball games per year as well as community events, concerts, festivals and additional sporting events. The Ballpark is being financed entirely by private funding, with no money coming from the County.

About One Loudoun: One Loudoun is a premier 358-acre omni-use, master-planned community in Loudoun County, Virginia, that will feature 1,040 homes, 702,000 square feet of retail including fine dining, upscale shopping and movie theater, a luxury hotel, three million square feet of office space, a clubhouse with pool and an amphitheater – all surrounded by approximately 150 acres of public land with miles of walking trails. Now under construction, One Loudoun's mixed-use Downtown district is slated to open in Spring 2013.
