News: Loudoun Museum's Annual Hauntings Tours Set for Oct. 26-27
To contact us Click HERE
Leesburg (Oct. 3, 2012) - Do you like a good ghost story? Then you don’t want to miss Loudoun Museum’s Annual Hauntings Tours. This year’s tours will take place Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 in Historic Downtown Leesburg.
Tours are led through several homes and businesses, where costumed storytellers share the history and ghostly tales of each place. The spirited tours last 90 minutes to 2 hours and start every 15 minutes between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tours begin at the Leesburg Town Hall, located at 25 West Market Street.
“It’s a different Hauntings experience each year because we vary the locations a bit,” said tour founder and director Peter Kelpinski. “For some sites, the stories have been updated to reflect new eerie events that have occurred during the past year.”
The goal is to both entertain and unsettle guests. “We scare you the good old-fashioned way: with the fine art of well-told stories.”
Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door. Because space is limited, people are encouraged to reserve their tickets online as soon as possible.
Tickets may be purchased at www.LeesburgHauntings.org. All proceeds benefit the Loudoun Museum.
Due to their historic nature, many of the buildings on the Hauntings Tours are not handicapped accessible. Tours are not recommended for children under 10 years old, and infants and strollers are not permitted.
Things to Know about Leesburg Hauntings
• Check-in for the walking tours is in the lobby of the Leesburg Town Hall at 25 West Market Street (one block west of the intersection of King and Market Street) next to the Tally Ho Theater and the parking garage.
• Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time to check in.
• Tours will leave promptly. If you miss your designated tour time, we will ask you to wait until the next tour with available spaces.
• Each tour will cover about eight blocks and last 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
• The tour will end at the Loudoun Museum at 16 Loudoun Street SW. The museum is located behind the Town Hall, and next to the parking garage.
• Dress for the weather. Tours will continue even in the rain!
• Wear comfortable walking shoes since you’ll be on brick sidewalks and uneven terrain.
• Parking is available in the garage next to the Town Hall; please use the Loudoun Street entrance to the garage.

You Pick'Em Football Results:Week 6 Sent Many Fans Into a Tailspin but JAGMan Wins the Week!
To contact us Click HERE
(Oct. 3, 2012) - And we thought last week was hard when only two out of 153 fans went 10-0 ... this past week we didn't have any fans -- or LoCo Media -- go 10-0.
With 156 fans playing, 10 went 9-1: BW Wrestling, Coach 19, Hammied, JAGman, JMaffe, Larry, Pac23, Swift30, WVU FB and Xxpc ... and JAGman of Ashburn was nearly perfect on the tiebreaker, picking Briar Woods 35-7 over Tuscarora when the final score was 35-6.
JAGman will get a Viva Loudoun one-of-a-kind t-shirt as well as a gift certificate from Roosters Men's Grooming Center of Goose Creek Village, good for a free haircut or shave!
As for the season-long standings, Mtneer32 of Charles Town (54-6 record) saw their lead shrink to one game ahead of Mr. Dubya of Sterling is 45-5. Two games back of Mr. Dubya is a trio: BWoods Champs 2010, TBreeden and WeaselVT.
Our fans are playing for an overall season prize of $100 to the winner (plus $100 to their favorite Loudoun high school) with second place netting $50 and third place $25.
The LoCo Media Experts are in a bunch now with Andy Hayes of Gameday Magazine tied with Carl Lukat and Moe Murphy of the Loudoun Times-Mirror and Matt Brooks of the Washington Post, Alanna Dvorak of the Loudoun Times-Mirror and Pual Tenorio, formerly of the Washington Post and starting at the Orlando Sentinel this week all a game back.
The LoCo Media Experts are playing not only for glory but the overall season winner will have $100 donated to their favorite charity!
And a super big shout out to the sponsor of our You Pick'Em Gayle King of CENTURY 21 Redwood Realty ... her generous support allows us to fund the cash prizes! So give her a thumbs up the next time you see her at a local game!

Football: You Pick'Em Contest Week 7 Sponsored by Gayle King of CENTURY 21 Redwood Realty
To contact us Click HERE
(Sept. 26, 2012) - We start Week 7 of our Viva Loudoun high school football You Pick'Em contest.
The contest is simple, you pick the winner's of the local high school football games (complete the form below!) and if you win for the week ...We have offered free t-shirts to either presidential candidate willing to wear one at the next debate so tune in! ...
Each week we will keep your record and at the end of the year the top player will get $100 in their pocket and $100 given to their local Loudoun high school of choice (hey, our site is called Viva Loudoun ... not Viva Las Vegas ...). Runner-up gets $50 and third place gets $25.
How do we have these cash prizes to give out ... a little thing called telemarketing! ... just teasing ... it is because Gayle King of CENTURY 21 Redwood Realty is our sponsor. If you see her ... THANK her!
Fine print: Please limit all rebuttals to this Fine Print to two minutes ... On previous days when it is 84 degrees and great golf weather we reserve the right to make the Fine Print very short ... It helps to read this Fine Print with real Natitude ... We are looking it up but the Redskins with an exciting young quarterback and both the Orioles and Nationals in the playoffs quite possibly is one of signs of the ending of the sports world ... Is there an official naming commission for student sections? We miss baton twirlers at football games ... did they go away because it was deemed too dangerous to toss up the baton? ... dating back to youth football, Briar Woods' JR Trace McSorley's career record a s a starter is 142,378 wins and 4 losses (no, look it up) ... We think Freedom and John Champe should be some swagger in their match-up and call it the "Battle of Route Fiddy" ...

Sterling (Oct. 2, 2012) - Over the weekend the Tuscarora High School competitive cheer squad captured the 3-year-old program's first ever meet title by defeating AAA power Stone Bridge at the Cheers Sports Spirit Bowl. On Tuesday the Huskies shocked 3-time defending AA state champion Briar Woods and the rest of the Dulles District with a first place finish at the district's first mini meet at Dominion High School.
Tuesday's competition, coupled with another mini meet Oct. 10 at Woodgrove, will determine the seeding for the Oct. 24 Dulles District meet at Briar Woods. The Falcons are also the 3-time defending Dulles District and Region II champions.
