Fred T. Foard beat Eden Morehead 41-27 at home Saturday to win the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A dual-team championship.
Foard (39-2) won its first dual-team title.
Ben Hughes, Foard’s 138-pound wrestler, won by a pin and was named championship MVP. The Tigers also got pins from Trevor Cook (160), Caleb Bumgarner (170), Cameron Wilfong (195) and Dylan Curtis (285).
-- In 2A, Newton-Conover (43-5) beat Croatan 31-30 to win. Franklin Wepner, a 132-pounder for Newton-Conover, was named championship MVP. He won by pin. Newton-Conover’s Jarren Pitts (220) and Jonte Parker (126) also won by pin.
-- In 4A, Winston-Salem Parkland won its seventh straight championship beating Fayetteville’s Jack Britt High 28-20.
-- In 1A, North Rowan (27-3) lost 41-25 to West Wilkes. West Wilkes won its fourth straight championship. North Rowan was in the finals for the second time in three years.
